post postmodern

i'm skipping valuable homework time for this. but i just feel i have to write this down to get it out of my system. so, homework, i'll get back to you.

---

let me get this straight: i understand that truth is relative.

you and me, we're different. we like waking up on different sides of the bed. we have different reactions to justin bieber or george bush. we have different stereotypes (minus the negative connotation, it is the pattern of ideas) regarding beauty, gender, success, evil, etcetera. we respond differently in the event our bags get snatched or the bank closes just as we get to the shiny, tinted entrance. the differences are exponential.

and that is why we may see, understand, act on ideas differently.

truth is relative. on that we can agree, no?

but this is not an excuse for lazy thinking, mental shortcuts, and unfounded opinions. if i have a claim, i back it up with textual references. i do not close up and say i won't be swayed to accept your opinion. (emphasis on the tiny period)

maybe i'm too crass in my manner of exposition? or perhaps my directness doesn't sit well with you? but at least look at the merits of my argument and perspective before you shut me out of the conversation.

how do i respond to these situations/people productively?
